EDGAR entity profile: SIC, addresses, state, fiscal year end, former names.

Parameter	Type	Description	Example
`cik`required	string	CIK (with or without leading zeros) or a ticker. Tickers are resolved to a CIK first.	`NVDA`

Data comes from EDGAR's company submissions record and is cached for a day.
Fields EDGAR leaves blank come back as empty strings or null.

The ticker is resolved to CIK 1045810. fiscalYearEnd is MMDD, here 0131 for a January year end.

Response fields

Field	Type	Meaning
`cik`	string	CIK padded to 10 digits.
`entityType`	string	EDGAR entity type, for example operating or other.
`sic`	string	Standard Industrial Classification code.
`sicDescription`	string	Name of the SIC industry.
`ownerOrg`	string	The SEC office that reviews the filer, for example 04 Manufacturing.
`insiderTransactionForOwnerExists`	integer	1 when the entity has filed insider reports as an owner.
`insiderTransactionForIssuerExists`	integer	1 when insider reports exist with this entity as the issuer.
`name`	string	Current legal name on EDGAR.
`tickers`	array of strings	Trading symbols on file.
`exchanges`	array of strings	Exchanges for those tickers, in the same order.
`ein`	string	IRS employer identification number, when on file.
`lei`	string or null	Legal entity identifier, when on file.
`description`	string	Free text description; usually empty.
`website`	string	Website on file; often empty.
`investorWebsite`	string	Investor relations site on file; often empty.
`category`	string	Filer status, for example Large accelerated filer or Non-accelerated filer.
`fiscalYearEnd`	string	Fiscal year end as MMDD.
`stateOfIncorporation`	string	State or country code of incorporation.
`stateOfIncorporationDescription`	string	Readable form of the incorporation code.
`addresses.mailing / addresses.business`	object	Two address objects with street1, street2, city, stateOrCountry, zipCode, stateOrCountryDescription, isForeignLocation, foreignStateTerritory, country, countryCode.
`phone`	string	Business phone number.
`flags`	string	EDGAR status flags; empty for most filers.
`formerNames[]`	array	Previous names, each with name, from and to timestamps.

How to

How do I find a company's fiscal year end?

Read fiscalYearEnd. It is MMDD, so 0131 means January 31 and 1231 means December 31.

How do I get the industry (SIC) of a filer?

Use sic and sicDescription. List other companies in the same code with /v1/mapping/sic.

How do I check whether a company is a large accelerated filer?

Read category. It shows the filer status the company reported to EDGAR.

How do I see a company's previous names?

formerNames lists each earlier name with the dates it was in use.

Can I look up an entity that has no ticker?

Yes. Pass the numeric CIK; funds, trusts, individuals and private issuers all have profiles.

How do I get the business address and phone?

addresses.business holds the street address and phone holds the number on file.

Where is a company incorporated?

stateOfIncorporation holds the state or country code.

How do I find the exchange a stock trades on?

tickers and exchanges are parallel arrays: the first ticker trades on the first exchange.

Errors

400 "unknown ticker X" when a ticker cannot be resolved.
400 when cik is missing.
