A DEF 14A is the definitive proxy statement a company sends shareholders before its annual meeting. It explains what is up for a vote: electing directors, approving the auditor, the say on pay vote, and any shareholder proposals. It also holds the executive compensation tables.
Most are filed between March and May. The executive compensation API and the other proxy datasets read them for you.
