Map tickers, CIKs, CUSIPs and company names
Convert between ticker, CIK, company name and CUSIP, and look up an EDGAR entity profile with SIC code, fiscal year end and filer category.
EDGAR identifies filers by CIK, markets use tickers, and 13F holdings use CUSIPs. Every SEC data project needs to move between them. SecFeed's mapping endpoints do it in one call each.
Ticker, CIK and name

import requests
BASE = "https://secfeedapi.com"
HEADERS = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SECFEED_KEY']}"}
def get(path, **params):
r = requests.get(f"{BASE}{path}", params=params, headers=HEADERS, timeout=120)
r.raise_for_status()
return r.json()
print(get("/v1/mapping/ticker", ticker="NVDA"))
print(get("/v1/mapping/cik", cik=320193))
print(get("/v1/mapping/name", name="apple")[:3])

print(e["name"], e["sic"], e["sicDescription"], e["fiscalYearEnd"], e["category"], e["stateOfIncorporation"])

CUSIPs
CUSIP mapping is learned from 13F information tables, which pair each CUSIP with an issuer name. That covers the US equities institutions hold. /v1/mapping/cusip?cusip=67066G104 returns NVIDIA. A lookup can take longer than the other mapping calls, so cache results on your side.
Entity profiles
/v1/entities returns the profile EDGAR keeps for a filer: SIC code and description, state of incorporation, fiscal year end (0131 means January 31), filer category, addresses, phone and former names. Former names matter when you search old filings: a company may have filed under a different name decades ago.
Tips
- Tickers change and get reused; CIKs never change. Store CIKs as your primary key.
- Some companies have several tickers (share classes, preferred stock). Mapping a CIK returns all of them.
- Use
BRK-Bstyle tickers with a dash for share classes.
