Municipal advisors, the firms that advise cities, states and other public bodies on bonds and financial products, register with the SEC on Form MA and update it every year with Form MA-A. Each individual who advises on their behalf is registered on Form MA-I.
The forms include disciplinary history, so they are the place to check an advisor before hiring one.
