)
print(r.json())What is CERT?
Section 12(d) of the Exchange Act ties the effectiveness of a 12(b) registration to a certification from the exchange that it has approved the securities for listing. EDGAR files that certification as CERT, under the issuer's CIK.
CERT replaced the exchange specific types (CERTNYS, CERTNAS, CERTAMX and others) in the 2010s. Paired with the issuer's 8-A12B, it confirms the date a new class of securities was approved to trade, including ETFs and newly issued notes.
National securities exchanges, filing under the CIK of the issuer whose securities they approve.
When the exchange approves a class for listing, typically just before trading starts.
