What is N-30D?

N-30D is the EDGAR submission type for the initial annual and semi-annual reports that investment companies send to shareholders under Investment Company Act Rule 30e-1, other than those that must be filed on Form N-CSR.

Before Form N-CSR existed (2003), most fund shareholder reports were filed as N-30D, so it is the place to look for fund financial statements and portfolio schedules from the 1990s. A smaller set of registrants still uses the type.
