Before October 1997, a fund that wanted to register an indefinite number of shares under Investment Company Act Rule 24f-2 had to make an election. 24F-2EL is the EDGAR type for that election when filed on its own.
The 1997 amendments to Rule 24f-2 deemed funds to register an indefinite amount automatically, ending the election filings. Funds now pay registration fees annually on Form 24F-2NT.
Open-end funds, unit investment trusts and face-amount certificate companies registering under Rule 24f-2, before late 1997.
When the election was made. No filings after 1997.
